Abstract. Re-Islamization process in the post-Soviet space has not only influenced the revival of religious faith and traditions among Moslem nations but it has also initiated their social and political activities in many Moslem countries in Central Asia and Caucasus and even in Russia. Although the share of religious believers has been growing annually since the 1990s yet at present their influence on public processes in the post-Soviet Moslem countries remains insignificant. Moslem religious organizations and their leaders in those countries function more as quasi-state structures being unable to retain their independence while Islamic activists appear to be totally dislodged from social and political life.
