Abstract. The economic and political cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is becoming an important factor of regionalization in Central Asia. Economic interac-tion is developing across the entire spectrum of their relations, but particular importance is attached to the expansion of interregional cooperation, as well as to cooperation in the transport and logistics spheres. Joint Kazakhstan-Uzbek transport projects may become part of international transport corridors, contributing to the involvement of the republics in global integration projects, primarily in the China project to create the “New Silk Road”. Similar external threats emanating primarily from neighboring Afghanistan cause a rapprochement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the security sphere. Tashkent and Astana adhere to a multi-vector foreign policy, which provides them with the support of the powers competing in the region – Russia as well as the United States.
