Abstract. The article deals with the role of Crimean Tatar issue in the foreign policy of official Kiev. The author explores the attempts of the Ukrainian authorities to use the representatives of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People (banned in Russia) with the aim to destabilize situation in Crimea. In the article pro-Russian tendencies of the Crimean Tatars, the policy of the Russian Federation on preservation of ethnocul-tural identity of the Crimean Tatar people, the prospect of creating of Crimean Tatar autonomy in the Kherson region are shown.
