Abstract. The article examines the socio-economic situation in Kyrgyzstan on the eve of the presidential elections. The influence of external forces and the role of the ethno-regional factor of the socio-political process in shaping the preelection discourse are analyzed. A general characteristic of the forthcoming elections to be held on October 15, 2017 is presented in the article.
