Abstract. The article analyzes results of socio-economic reforms carried out in the Republic of Moldova over the last 25 years. The author explores basic directions of reforms of the Moldova economy as well as first results of a free trade regime introduced with the European Union. The article ends up with a conclusion that a non-effective socio-economic model unable to ensure the economic growth and improvement in the living standards has been formed in Moldova.
