Abstract. The article analyzes problems of interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the Chinese project of the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB). The author notes that there are several concrete ways of bringing the EEU and the SREB together while  joining their potentials may be beneficial to all the participating countries. However in certain aspects the SREB acts as a competitor to the EEU.
