The crisis in Ukraine and signing of agreements of association with the EU by Ukraine and Moldova have aggravated Russian-Ukrainian and Russian-Moldova relations thus creating new challenges to the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (TMR). The worsening of socio-economic conditions in this unrecognized republic, a coordinated policy of Ukraine and Moldova aimed at blocking its foreign economic activities and a political crisis in Moldova severely complicated the resolution of the TDM republic status.
