Abstract. The article analyses Russia-Ukraine relations in the sphere of fuel and energy. It emphasizes dependence of the Ukraine economy on import of energy resources. Also it examines the on-going discussion about long-term gas contracts signed on January19, 2009.  In conclusion it is noted that while the formal statue of ten-year contracts is preserved the actual format of supplies of natural gas from Russia to Ukraine has been changed.
