Abstract. Since Belarus is conveniently located between industrialized Europe and resource-rich Asia Western countries are trying to gain Minsk over to their side. Yet Belarus remains a close partner and most reliable ally of Russia. During all the years of its independence Minsk consistently supported foreign policy activities of Moscow including those aimed at re-integration of the post-Soviet space.
