Abstract. Although after 1991 the Ukraine foreign policy was a multi-vector one, the Euro-Atlantic direction prevailed in it. Kiev aspired for integration into the EU structures and distanced itself from integration processes in the post-Soviet space. Establishment of a FTA between Ukraine and the European Union and curtailment of economic ties with Russia and Belarus will cause escalation of crisis events in the Ukrainian economy.

Keywords: Ukraine,  Euro-Atlantic direction,  Ukrainian economy
