Abstract. The article advocates the need of a conceptional approach to establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union in the light of processes evolving in the Common-wealth of Independent States (CIS). It emphasizes an inadmissibility of curtail-ment of the Eurasian integration space as well as of concrete forms of participa-tion of the CIS member-states in the on-going Eurasian economic integration. It underscores the importance of strengthening cooperation at the CIS market as a fundamental condition for maintaining competitive ability of the Customs Union of Russia, Byelorussia and Kazakhstan.
