Abstract. The problem of regional security in Central Asia may aggravate following the round up of the foreign coalition military mission in Afghanistan. Since this region has a key role for Russia’s national security Moscow pays special attention to developing allied relations with Central Asia states, especially since a leading regional country, Kazakhstan, is a member-state of the Customs Union and of the United Economic Space which constitute the basis of the future Eurasian Economic Union.
