The book provides a comprehensive view of gold and gold trading in many aspects. Particular attention is given to the transformation of the world gold market, its role and structure. Demonetisation of gold (its use as a monetary metal has copied that of silver) and diminution of gold’s presence among international reserves are examined in detail. Recent patterns of gold demand, including jewelry fabrication, other commercial and industrial forms of using, as well as investment demand, are discussed. The supply side (world new gold production and old gold, sales of gold stocks, gold transactions by major producers) is also analyzed. The author examines the main gold markets of the world and the trading facilities. Finally the author looks at problems of Russian gold production and resources as well as those related to precious metals market. The book is completed with statistical data for the period 1970-2000.
