The paper is devoted to the analysis and assessment of prospects for the development of China’s relations with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and their place in the foreign policy strategy of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). It thoroughly examines the interaction and dynamics of cooperation between China and these countries within the framework of the “China+” group. The characteristics of China’s interaction with its individual members are determined and their three main groups are distinguished: “leaders”, “countries at a crossroads” and “opponents”. The paper also discusses the factors that hinder the development of relations between China and CEE countries. The main ones include the growing interstate competition between the two leading global economies in Europe and the involvement of the EU, NATO and CEE countries in the implementation of the U.S. strategy of global containment of the PRC. Separately, the paper considers new forms of counteraction to China in the region such as the intensification of cooperation among CEE countries within the framework of the “Three Seas Initiative” and the development of their relations with Taiwan. In conclusion, it is stated that despite the active opposition of the United States and its allies in Europe, China, within the framework of the “China+” group, is increasing bilateral trade and economic interaction in the region moving towards a multilateral format based on the development of investment ties, actively strengthening them through expanded cooperation in finance and technology. The development and deepening of cooperation between China and CEE countries is oriented towards the future and aims at creating a Eurasian economic and political space as part of China’s global concept of creating a community of shared destiny for humanity.
