South Africa faces a serious challenge following the death of its peacekeepers in the DRC in 2025. Can the SANDF (South African National Defense Forces) ensure the security of the country - and can they effectively carry out their missions and tasks? Given the fact that the Ministry of Defense’s budget is constantly being cut, this question is becoming critical. Military development in South Africa has but ceased effectively, and this has happened at a time when the number of military conflicts in the world and in Africa in particular is growing. Taking into account the already sorry state of all of the SANDF branches (army, air force, and navy), in the coming years South Africa may face the fact there will simply be no one to defend its borders in the event of an attack.
