The article considers the military innovative activity in the USA in the current decade and the following period with the aim of exposure and analysis of the key aspects of innovation development in the field of defense taking into account its increasing interactions with civil and commercial sectors of economy. The most important objectives of the study are determination of the main positions and changes in the modern American military innovative practice, broadening the notions about the current and perspective activity of the USA Ministry of Defense in the field of innovation. The military innovative activity is examined in the broad common national contests and in two main directions - realization of the new Defense Innovation Initiative of the USA and the influence of the economy digitalization on that process (including the broad use of smart-contracts). It caused the need for system-synergetic approach to research. The scientific hypothesis of the research is that the process of the active creation of the conditions for cardinal change in the field of military-innovation intensification is approaching to the critical level, which give the opportunity for the realization of the new innovation breakthrough to the end of the following decade. The main results of the work show the gradual raising of the USA efforts concerning the acceleration of the critical technology' delivery, including from commercial sector (especially from high-tech companies) to militaries and irreversibility of the movement to the digital reorganization and transformation, the consequences of which demand subsequent research.
