The article addresses the actual issues of the modern world military-economic development, many of which are unparalleled in the past. The most important problems, shifts and the main mega-tendencies are highlighted. The authors examine the paradigm of shifts in military economics, as well as mutual influence between these shifts and the changes in the security field in the context of rapidly expanding digital technologies and innovations.  The accelerated development of disruptive technologies, especially the digital ones, is outpacing the ability for the political and economic adaptations to the changes. Such a situation creates additional risks, including in the field of security. The mega-trends of the military-economic activities in the coming decade are determined. In the context of the growing rivalry, especially between great powers, the main contest criteria becomes more complex, combined and even integral, where the priorities belong for the most part not to quantities, but to quality factors as in the case of PEMT-competition (political, economic, military and technological – competition). The trend for the US domination in terms of the volume of resources for military-economic activities in the next decade, considering the US may no longer be able to maintain its leading role and influence in the world, is also discussed.
