The impact of human capital on economic output and the creation of personal, social and economic well - being has been increasingly discussed by researchers and policymakers. The issue of the quality of human capital has recently become relevant in Great Britain. It can be attributed to several factors. They are, in the first place, capital accumulation, labour productivity and expenditure on R&D. Secondly, demographic shifts, and thirdly, changes in the labour market. In the post crisis period due to the increase in the employment rate and the reduction of the unemployed, the workforce has depleted. Moreover, in certain trades and occupations a significant shortage of labour, especially skilled manpower can be observed. Finally, negative consequences of forthcoming Britain's withdrawal from the EU is another huge factor. In particular, more restrictive immigration policies will reduce the inflow of migrant labour. It can be compensated with quality investments in human capital.
