The author examines the key strategic directions of Germany's domestic and foreign policy in the face of deterioration in the international situation. Analysis of the formation of the federal government, following the results of the elections to the Bundestag on September 24, 2017, reveals Berlin's approaches to European integration issues, including the possibility of creating a Euroarmy, the "United States of Europe." The article touches upon the issues of relations between Russia and Germany, the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War.
