Recent developments in the world economy provide abundant evidence on the growth importance of factors favorable for the increase of investment activity. They are, first of all, savings surpluses, growing financialization of the global economy, active proinvestment policies of governments and central banks, changes in the structure of capital accumulation. However, these circumstances have offered little support to stimulate investment. Despite them, global investment has slowed notably in relation to the world GDP, and not reach the pre-crisis level. The flood of liquidity has disproportionally gone towards creating financial wealth rather than strengthening the real economy. The article attempts to prove that the dynamics of capital investment, especially in real capital, depends not so much in spare financial resources, as the demand on capital. In the end - on the intensity of production, changes in technological and institutional structure of economy, as well as quality characteristics and efficiency of the capital usage. The major factor which hampers business investments are prospect uncertainties, economic and political risks, general weakness of economic activity. Business reacts on this factor by the decrease of investment.
