Sovereign Wealth Funds as National Economy Stabilisers / Levchenko Anna V.

The article contains definition of a sovereign wealth fund and provides classification of the sovereign wealth funds based on the functions they perform. Analysis is made of the stabilization function performed by the said funds during 2007-2010. Recommendations on how to make further use of Russian wealth funds are put forward. The authors argues that in the period under study the stabilisation measures involved over a third of the average annual value of the sovereign fund asset value, with Russia retaining a leading position in the use of sovereign funds.
