The article discusses the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) and its impact on the overall situation in the Middle East. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the participation of regional centers of power and external players in the Syrian conflict. The author comes to the conclusion, that it is necessary to intensify the peace negotiations on Syria in Geneva and Astana. With the consent of the opposing sides, it is allowed only to conduct a peacekeeping operation under the auspices of the UN.
