Russia's development is largely determined by the solution of the demographic challenge, ignoring which may create an existential threat to the country's existence in the long term. That is why the demographic issue is defi ned as a strategic priority for Russia in the coming decades. That is why the demographic issue has been defi ned as a strategic priority for our country for the next decades. Among the most ambitious prospects for increasing the population of Russia is the statement of LDPR leader L. Slutsky, who outlined the need for a twofold increase in the next 50 years. The model of demographic growth in Russia built in this paper allowed us to determine the factors affecting fertility in the country and calculate their target values necessary to achieve the goal of doubling the number. One of the factors infl uencing the increase in the birth rate is the marriage and divorce rate, the value of which has decreased almost 1.5 times over the last decade. Demographic expansion requires almost a twofold increase, which implies serious work on strengthening the family and forming the image of a large family as a norm of life in society. At present, the Russian Government is actively working towards the material and social aspects of the demographic problem, which makes it possible to solve many issues of the demographic challenge in the short term. However, for the formation of sustainable population growth in the country, it is necessary to work with the consciousness of the population, focused on the long-term planning horizon. As measures aimed at strengthening the family in order to reduce the number of divorces and the formation of family values as a guarantee of Russia's future, the article considers proposals for the creation and development of family psychological support centers, the popularization of the image of the family and the family with many children. large families and formation of a family-centered state.
