The current issue of the ongoing IMEMO series «Global Development» is based on materials from the International Conference organized by the Council of Young Scientists at IMEMO on April 20-21, 2023. The editors and authors analyze «space» as a theoretical concept and explore how several regions were constructed and how borders were defined and redefined. The monograph consists of four sections organized by geography and thematic focus. The first section addresses issues related to European space. The second examines the confrontation and convergence between two concepts—the Asia-Pacific region and the Indo-Pacific region—as well as the policies of several states toward them. The third section presents cases of spatial construction and deconstruction, including border conflicts. The fourth is devoted to relatively new spaces of political interaction: air and outer space, as well as cyberspace. This issue is dedicated to the memory of our friend and colleague, Alexey Andreevich Davydov (1993-2025) – Candidate of Political Science, Senior Research Fellow, and Co-Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists at IMEMO.
