The author of the article conducted a critical analysis of the results of the elections to the European Parliament. The tendencies towards a weakening of the center-right and social democratic segments, the strengthening of the liberal wing, the expansion of the Euro-skeptical, nationalist flank in the EU legislative structure were confirmed. The new alignment of political forces in the European Parliament gave impetus to discussions about the role and place of Germany in the changing world, Berlin's approaches to various concepts of reforming the European Union.
