The article attempts to identify and analyze the key factors, processes and trends that are having an increasingly growing influence on the nature and direction of transformation of the modern world-system. Attention is focused on the tectonic shifts, which in the last three to four decades have occurred in the basic infrastructure of the modern world in the context of globalization and the information revolution. It is shown that they generated revolutions in key areas of public life that subjected erosion the foundations of modern Western civilization. The thesis is substantiated that we are witnessing a deep existential shift witch may pre-rising in its effect the transition from paganism to the new world religions or so-called Great Transformation - the transition from the Middle ages to the rationalist capitalist civilization of the Euro-Atlantic world.
