The standoff in the South China Sea: a Triangle of contradictions
ISSN 2070-5476
This article examines bilateral US-Philippine relations in the context of the standoff between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea. Since Donald Trump's return to the White House in 2025, Washington and Manila have significantly expanded their military and political cooperation. The article examines in detail the formats of diplomatic and military interaction between the two countries. The author concludes that the US-Philippines bilateral alliance will rapidly develop in 2025, primarily due to China's active actions in the South China Sea. At the same time, US-Philippine bilateral relations are not without their problems, which may emerge in the future.
