The collection of articles combines the extended versions of reports presented at the international conference, held by the Center of Energy Studies, IMEMO RAN and Faculty of International Energy Business, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas in December, 2014. The analysis focuses on the following problems: influence of the largest banks on price setting mechanism for crude oil; prerequisites for launching a new global oil benchmark; mechanism of technological progress in unconventional hydrocarbons sector; impact of «shale revolution» in the USA upon American and world refining; restructuring of natural gas market in the continental Europe. Also energy strategies of Russia, USA, China, Bulgaria and Central Asia states as well as corporate strategies of oil and gas companies from developing countries are discussed.
