The article analyzes the main trends of Turkish discussions on the issue of Turkey-NATO relations. NATO membership has been one of the most important areas of Ankara's foreign policy since the Cold War to the present day. At the same time, these relations are the subject of diverging assessments of Turkish researchers who do not lose interest in this topic, preparing papers concerning both the historical aspects of the issue and modern problems. The reasons and consequences of Turkey's accession to NATO continue to attract wide attention. This topic is more or less covered in almost all Turkish publications. The Turkish experts also share significant interest in the issue of Ankara's contribution to the activities of the alliance. At present this problem is acquiring a different dimension due to the emergence of new tasks for NATO and Turkey's search for its new mission, both within the alliance and in changing geopolitical realities. Traditionally high level of anti-NATO sentiment in Turkey, which is confirmed by the latest public opinion polls, remains an important aspect of the problem. The discussions of Turkish researchers regarding the prospects, strengths and weaknesses of Turkey-NATO relations are a reaction to political events affecting Ankara's cooperation with Western countries.
