Factors and reasons which inhabited USSR to join GATT and consequences of its non participation in multilateral system of regulation of international trade are analyzed. Problems of effective participation of Russia in WTO and ways to get maximum gains of WTO membership are discussed. The analysis of WTO role for development of international trade and support of Russian economic interests is presented. Some alternative ways of development of international regulations of trade are discussed in relation with attempts of creation of mega regional trade agreements and correlation between multilateral and regional approach to regulations of global market.
