The present research focuses upon the most important aspects of the U.S. immigration policy. It examines the basic laws adopted for period of the XX and the beginning of the XXI centuries. Author explores factors that have led to the need for overhaul of the immigration legislation. The book covers the major provisions of the comprehensive immigration reform bill approved by the Senate in June 2013 and reasons of the failing to implement the Obama administration's immigration reform. It also deals with politics and debates about this bill and Obama's executive orders. Author notes that the immigration policy is a subject of intense political struggle in the U.S. Author considers immigration as an important channel for the formation of the labor force and examines the role of foreign-born persons in the U.S. economy. At the same time large-scale immigration brings many risks and challengers. Special attention is paid to changes in racial and ethnic balance and the growing burden on the social security, medical and educational system.
