Malysheva Dina
Turkmenistan’s international guidelines
Publication Type:

Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is a derivative of its political system with its inherent rigid dominance of power hierarchy. The status of “permanent and positive neutrality” that has been fixed in the Constitution of Turkmenistan and approved by the UN General Assembly determines the main directions of the republic’s international interaction with the outside world. Against the background of priority relationship with Russia and China, Turkmenistan’s collaboration with Turkey and a number of other regional states is marked by a positive dynamics, while the attempts of the European Union and the United States to penetrate into the energy sector of Turkmenistan or its military-political complex do not result in the desired outcome.

Keywords: Turkmenistan | foreign policy | political system | neutrality | international interaction |
