The article attempts to identify and analyze some of the most important, according to the author’s position, aspects of liberal-conservative consensus which emerged in the industrialized countries of the West in the second half of the 20 th century. It is shown that since the end of the 19 th century, especially after World War II, more or less significant changes took place in the leading trends of political thought, such as liberalism, conservatism and social democracy, which served as the ideological basis of the respective political parties. The essence of these changes consisted in bringing together the positions of their representatives on some key issues of socio-political system and ways of solving social and economic problems, which was the basis for consensus-building among the most advanced representatives of these trends and relevant political forces.
