To engage successfully with China it is important to analyze perceptions of the world that have developed in that country in the postwar decades. These ideas, deeply rooted in the millennial history of the Celestial Empire, remain an infinite source of Chinese civilization’s strength in the face of external challenges. According to the authors, Chinese visions of the world order, globalization and further global developments are, in general, reasonable and constructive. The trade war initiated by the U.S. administration in 2018 is a kind of recognition of the validity of these Chinese perceptions.
