The publication analyses from various angles a current state and prospects for China-Japan cooperation and rivalry in their non-separated combination. It gives assessments of the Chinese approaches towards development of economic and political relations with Japan and the Japanese view of China’s rise and Japan’s various reactions to that rise. A key role playing by China and Japan in evolution of general situation in East Asia and particularly in real progress of regional economic integration is under consideration. Another part of analysis includes China and Japan interaction in such areas with acute political issues as Korean Peninsular. An influence of non-regional actors, particular the United States, on China-Japan relations is also in the focus of analysis. Finally, an attention is paid to finding ways and means to engage an economic development of the Russian Far East with China and Japan, particularly in energy field.
