The article presents an analysis of the current outer space situation and the use of arti cial intelligence (AI) technologies in the outer space sector, including in control systems of arti cial Earth satellites and multi-satellite constellations. The article presents the key factors that determine the feasibility of AI using, as well as the main directions of its use in the space industry. The article identi es promising AI technologies in space robotics, deep space exploration, monitoring, diagnostics and management of the technical condition of satellites, management of a multi-satellite constellation, and processing of satellite images. The author poses the problems of the in uence of the state of the satellite constellation on the level of strategic stability, national and international security; the importance of AI for the development of space technologies; training personnel for the space industry based on an interdisciplinary scienti c approach. The article proves that the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of a satellite constellation are today one of the most important indicators of the in uence and potential of a state in the world. Proposals have been developed to expand the potential of AI using in the exploration of near space, near-Earth orbit to ensure the economic, scienti c and technological development and security of Russia.
