The article deals with the set of problems of Spanish immigration in the period of 1985–2017, its dynamics, the latest trends and socio-economic characteristics. The infl uence of foreign labor force on the economic growth and demography of the country is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the evolution of the migration policy of Spain over the past two and a half decades, which at diff erent stages depending on the political factor changed its content and approaches. European migration crisis 2015–2016 he revealed the shortcomings of the national immigration legislation, the need to reform it with a focus on the currently developing new European migration policy.
