How The Terrorist Landscape of Southeast Asia is Changing with the Dissolution of the Jihadist Organization Jemaah Islamiyah (forbidden terrorist organization in Russia). Yugo-Vostochnaya Aziya: aktual`nyye problemy razvitiya, 2025, T. 1, № 1 (66). Pp. 101–109.

The article reveals the reasons that prompted JI*, this largest terrorist organization in the region, to decide to dissolve itself. It was associated with both a change in strategy and tactics from violence to education and training, as well as an assessment of the risks caused by the tightening of counter-terrorism actions by Indonesian law enforcement agencies. However, the self-dissolution of the JI* will not lead to an end to violence and terror in the region. Firstly, the possibility of an internal split of the organization and the creation of new terrorist groups is not excluded, and secondly, the ideology preached by JI* for the creation of an Islamic state meets the request of the most radicalized part of Muslim society. Thirdly, JI*, while maintaining control over its schools, is able to religiously indoctrinate young people, who are the most vulnerable and susceptible group to radical views.
