The European Union’s global role: what and how can organizational theory explane

The author evaluates the cognitive potential of organizational theory in the analysis of the global role of the European Union as essentially a normative power in world politics in the context of enlargement policy, European neighbourhood policy, inter- and trans-regionalism, development and cooperation policy, rule-making activity in the network of international institutions. The study analyses capabilities of using such key concepts of organizational theory as “organization”, “organizational field”, and “organizational change” in research methodology of the EU foreign policy strategy guidelines.
