The monograph deals with foreign economic ties of the FRG in the context of globalization analyzed on the basis of case studies of individual companies. Theoretical aspects of foreign economic activity of German firms are examined, including general regularities of the territorial development of the companies entering the world markets, as well as the factors determining the companies’ territorial preferences. The author looks into specific features of today’s foreign trade of Germany: the pattern and geography of trade in commodities and trade in services. The issues of direct and portfolio investment, both foreign investment in Germany and German investment abroad, are analyzed. Prospects for expansion of economic ties between Germany and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as those of the CIS, are estimated. Particular attention is given to German companies’ investment in Russia.
