The Yearbook contains the results of research on a broad spectrum of problems, traditionally conducted by SIPRI (security and conflicts; military expenditures and production of armaments; non-proliferation, arms control and disarmament), and an overview of new works devoted to dramatic changes in the security of human communities and the emergence of new threats. The works dwell on the latest trends and the problems of global security, the fight against terrorism, the US policy and doctrines, the elaboration of the EU defense policy, the evolution of nuclear confrontation in South Asia, programs of WMD development and the principles of getting access to them, talks on the improvement of control over missile technology transfer and the approval of the International Code of Conduct in that area. The IMEMO contributions to the Yearbook 2003 cover the events that took place through the first six months of the year 2003.
