The Yearbook covers three major topics: security and conflicts, military expenditures and armaments, arms control and disarmament. It contains statistical data, analytical materials and conclusions that shed light on the new sources (and those of the old ones that are of fundamental importance) of threats to international security. The IMEMO analytical survey, which is a supplement to the Yearbook, dwells on fundamental changes in the sphere of security and the implications of these processes for Russia. Particular attention is given to strategic arms limitation, international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, regional mechanisms of interaction between Russia and other countries in the sphere of arms control and security.
