Authors of report analyzed the current state of economic and political systems of North Korea. They give their assessments of real socio-economic situation in the country. Special attention has been also devoted to compare current situation in DPRK with similar stages of development of the communist regimes in USSR and Eastern Europe. This comparison allowed for looking at possible perspective of evolution of North Korean political regime, to assess the likelihood of reform’s implementation in North Korea according to what took place in China or Vietnam and possibility for the country to be opened to outside world. In the report factors are shown that for the moment provide the opportunity to secure relative socio-economic and political stability in North Korea. North Koreans themselves and the world community will have to face an influence of those factors if current totalitarian, command-administrative and closed political regime finally starts its transformation towards introducing market economy and becoming a member of the world community as a “normal” country.
