In 2008, foreign investment expansion of Russian companies slowed down but didnt stop under the influence of the global economic crunch. Thus the problem of adequate Russian FDI official statistics is still urgent. Main reasons of Russian transnational corporations informational transparency are analyzed in the article. The indicator of foreign long-term (fixed) assets is proposed for estimates of their investment expansion scale. Features of this indicator and its difference from UNCTAD indicator of foreign total assets are examined. Top lists of 25 Russian non-financial transnational corporations, ranked by long-term and total foreign assets (as of the end of 2007), are compared.
