A great body of factual data allowed the author to explore new trends in the banking business in developed countries, which are due to the introduction of computer technologies. The impact of «electronic» money on the efficiency of the monetary policy carried out by central banks is analyzed. Shifts in the structure of banker’s risks and the principles of risk management in the sphere of on-line banking facilities, formulated by Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), are analyzed as well.
