The Russian automotive industry plays an important role in the economy of our country, being one of the key sectors with a powerful multiplier effect, and also stimulates the development of a number of other industries. Despite this, the recent history of the domestic automotive industry is constantly facing a number of crises and systemic problems, which, in turn, are catalysts for the re-equipment of existing enterprises and the creation of new competitive model series. The automotive industry of our country at the present stage is in conditions of fierce competition, and the future appearance of this industry in the long term depends on what conditions will be created, what development strategy will be chosen. The article presents the dynamics of production and sales of motor vehicles, cars of Russia and the world, reflects the dynamics of the share of overproduction, considers factors that positively affect the buying mood, and noted possible factors that can slow down the development of the domestic car market.
