The author notes that the threat of terrorism in Southeast Asia remains and becomes transnational in nature, which actualizes the task of coordinating national counter-terrorism actions and expanding regional cooperation. Its solution vest on ASEAN. Whether ASEAN can cope with its implementation depends on a number of factors complicating the interaction between countries in the fight against terrorism at the regional level. And as a result of this, there is no opportunity to harmonize national counter-terrorism strategies. At the same time, over the past two years, there have been positive changes in the rapprochement of the parties in the fight against terrorism, which have created the basis for the formation and implementation of joint programs that are designed to increase the effectiveness of the counter-terrorism policy of the countries of South-East Asia.
