The book focuses on factors and mechanisms that contribute to American corporations’ leadership and competitiveness in the global economy, as well as on the problems that hinder such leadership. It includes analysis of changes corporations undergo due to globalization and examination of U.S. corporate science and technology, innovation and personnel strategies. Special attention is paid to the problems related to global outsourcing and offshoring and the need for corporate tax reform, which are examined from American competitive strength perspective. The author comes to the conclusion that leadership of American corporations is based upon company-level and national, economic and institutional tools and mechanisms that in combination with government policy facilitate innovations emergence and diffusion and ensure high quality human potential.
