As far as the U.S. confrontation with Iran has been and will be a keystone of the Middle East policy, the nuclear deal with this country, signed by the Obama-Biden administration in 2015, which entered the annals of world diplomacy under the name of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and reduced tension in the region. The Trump administration withdrew from the agreement in 2018 and imposed additional economic and other restrictions on Tehran. For the democratic administration it seems logical to revive the JCPOA, but in reality, everything looks more complicated and not only because of the opposition on the Capitol Hill. During this time, the situation in the world and in the Middle East, in particular, has undergone noticeable changes, which will not allow the White House to easily return to this document without losing face. The article examines the situation with the JCPOA and the prospects for its renewal.
