August 13, 2024 Ilya Kramnik, Research Fellow of the Center for Strategic Planning Studies of IMEMO, commented for the “Vedomosti” newspaper on what the redeployment of US forces to the Middle East means.
He believes that although Tehran does not have the densest air defense, it still has enough resources to counter an attack by the air wings of two aircraft carrier strike groups, as well as 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the Georgia nuclear submarine and dozens of such missiles from escort destroyers.
